Cordoba, Argentina
The next stop in Argentina was Cordoba, a college town with a bohemian vibe. My goal in Cordoba was to get my laundry done, plan Chile and lay low. Mission accomplished!
Although I hadn’t planned any excursions in Cordoba, I did manage to find some fun. I met up with one of the girls I met in Salta. We got our nails did and enjoyed several meals together. One of these meals even included a live show with a woman singing pop songs from the 70s…opera style. It was pretty entertaining. I should have gotten it on video.
Over the weekend I came across an awesome antiques/artist market that is held every Saturday and Sunday. Finally something other than hand woven camera bags, cell phone cases, etc. etc. They actually had very unique jewelry and art work. I got me some bling! While walking through the market I saw an adorable performance of folk music and dance called Folklorico. A little snippet is included below.
Later, on my walk home from the market, I found live music and tango in the plaza. It was thrilling to see how gracefully the dancers moved…both young and old alike. I wish we had more of a dance culture in the US. Dance makes me happy.
I spent the rest of my time in Cordoba watching the latest season of House of Cards…woah! And um I watched the Evita movie with Madonna because I knew almost nothing about Eva Peron :-). The wikipedia version of her life is better than the movie, in case you’re wondering.
Oh and I found a restaurant that had pad thai! It was nothing like American pad thai but after I asked to add super spicy peppers, all was right with the world. The restaurant, Tribeca, also made amazing drinks. Thanks Cordoba!
